Overview of Opportunity

Technica Ltd are a multi-disciplined design, management and construction company who specialise in providing turnkey projects to the national and international energy sector.

Technica Ltd are seeking a Graduate Designer to join a successful design and engineering team at an established and growing market specialist, providing engineering design support to the engineers for contracts for a wide range of clients.

Guidance and mentoring will be provided from the project management and engineering team.

Opportunities are available in either electrical design or control & instrumentation design – with applications welcomed from both areas of study/knowledge.

Role Description

  • Working alongside an experienced design/engineering team with either an electrical or control & instrumentation design focus, with guidance and mentoring provided throughout
  • Ensure designs are accurate and in accordance with current standards, legislation and client requirements
  • Support team members with technical issues/queries
  • Prepare and check various engineering designs, calculations, drawings & documentation
  • Request / ensure understanding of project scope, timescales
  • Specify equipment and prepare datasheets
  • Liaise with internal team members – engineers and project engineers etc
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and vendors (after a period of guidance and training)
  • Attend meetings when required
  • Work to company, client, national and international standards and regulations

Skills and Experience (Essential)

  • Strong IT Skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel etc)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Have a creative approach to problem solving
  • Able to self-motivate and work on own initiative
  • Ability to work well with a multi-disciplinary team
  • To be thorough and pay attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Skills and Experience (Desirable)

  • Previous experience of working in a team role
  • AutoCAD skills, or similar design software knowledge
  • Strong Design skills and knowledge

Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation & Control required
