Professional Energy Management Ltd (PEM Ltd) is an Energy & Environmental Consultancy business providing a range of services to small, medium and large private enterprises. Services are also provided to public sector organisations including further and higher education, schools and colleges, local authorities and the National Health Service. Our mission is to provide professional services that provide financial savings, reduce negative environmental consequences and create social gain.
Overview of Opportunity
PEM Ltd provide legal compliance, cost reduction and best practice services to public and private sector organisations. Examples include, Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD), the installation of low carbon technologies and ISO50001.
The role will involve delivering energy management services to PEM Ltd new and existing clients. Initially, the Energy Consultant will be ‘shadowing’ the Director to understand the processes and be introduced to the clients. The objective is to train and develop the individual to play a significant role in growing the business. There is a budget to provide external accreditation training to enable the individual to develop the legal services strand of the business.
Role Description
- Initiating and developing the concept design and delivery of energy efficiency projects, selection and sizing of plant, developing designs and scheme layouts, costing of solutions and quantifying performance.
- Advising on electricity and gas supply procurement.
- Identifying and assessing funding options for energy projects and investments.
- Developing business cases for energy investments from initial concept through to financial close, electricity procurement options, private wire schemes and the design of energy schemes and systems, including development of design drawings, technical specifications and invitation to tender packages.
- Evaluation of tender returns (technical and commercial) from contractors to identify value for money
- Commercial evaluation and appraisal of a variety of energy systems and schemes.
- Financial and technical analysis of energy projects to maximise value for clients
- Surveying and evaluating existing buildings and energy systems and schemes
- Undertaking legal compliance work with clients, for example the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS), European Union – Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).
- Developing management systems with clients, ISO50001 and ISO14001.
- Ability to manage complex tenders, as both a Bid Manager and Bid writer compiling professional responses working to strict deadlines.
- Ability to interpret energy assessments and present the benefits to clients.
- Ability to write recommendation reports and proposals to suit varying audiences.
- Experience/knowledge of ISO 50001: Energy Management Systems.
- Familiarity with finance incentives (e.g. Feed in Tariff, Renewable Heat Incentive, Demand Side Response, Pay As You Save) and other generation initiatives.
Skills and Experience (Desirable)
- Good understanding of science, physics and maths
- Polite and professional manner
- Preferably experience within the energy sector
- What’s more important is that the individual presents themselves well in front of customers and has a good attention to detail
