Overview of Opportunity

A family-run nursery pre-school founded in 2013, providing care and education for children from six weeks to five years.

We operate across three settings; Willerby, Anlaby, and Hull, where we offer high-quality childcare, promoting development in all key areas of learning and preparing all children for the next stage in their life.

We  are seeking an Early Years Intern to work in their nursery, pre-school and out of school club during term time and the school holidays

This internship is suited to someone currently studying an Early Year’s course and seeking employment in this field, or a recent Early Years graduate (Primary Teaching Studies or Working with Children, Young People and Families etc)

Role Description

  • To work alongside the manager/deputy manager and the team in a busy nursery environment of children aged 3-11 years
  • Support in the planning and delivering activities that are developmentally appropriate, child-centred, play based provision
  • Varying your planning, approach and delivery to the wide-ranging age group of the nursery
  • Contribute to the provision of the nurturing environment needed to promote children’s emotional stability, independence and creativity
  • Build positive relationships with the children and the parents/carers
  • Support the children during mealtimes as well as playtimes

Skills and Experience (Essential):

  • Ability to implement high quality practice to support all children’s development
  • Qualification or working towards a qualification in Early Years or Primary Teaching such as Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Primary Teaching Studies or Working with Children, Young People and Families
  • Friendly and approachable personality
  • Organised with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • The ability to work well with others
  • Adaptable in a changing environment
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and active listening skills
  • Enhanced DBS will be essential to begin the internship; however, this can be provided by the company if not currently held as part of your course etc
  • 2 satisfactory references will be required prior to the internship, this can include university tutors, personal reference or employment references

Skills and Experience (Desirable):

  • Hold previous experience of working with children
  • Customer service skills
  • Safeguarding Level 1 qualification desired (this will be completed with the company on your first day if not currently held by the successful applicant)

Qualifications:

  • Current student, finalist or graduate in an Early Years or Primary Teaching qualification such as Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Primary Teaching Studies or Working with Children, Young People and Families

Potential for Permanent Employment (if applicable):

  • Yes, this is an initial 12-week internship starting over the summer, but could lead to a part time or full-time permanent position dependent on a successful internship and the intern’s circumstances
