37.5 hrs per week, 9am-5.30pm Mon-Thurs, 9am-5pm Friday (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Duration:
12-week internship, with the opportunity to be hired permanently upon internship completion
Overview of Opportunity
- Joining an established 2-person design team within a market leading company, working with a number of licensed brands in the development of new and exciting confectionery products – from initial concept brief to submitting print ready artwork
- Working within a fun, unique and challenging market – confectionery – allowing for a creative and exciting career path
- Full training will be provided, starting as design assistant and working closely with experienced design professionals, with potential progression opportunities available and with a view to a permanent hire
Role Description
- Assisting with new product development, including designing and mocking up of samples to send to key customers
- Liaising with internal team (product/design/sales) to understand customer’s needs
- Creation of new art work and digital mock up using Adobe Creative Suite
- Manipulation of customer’s own art work / logos
- Design and creation of own label/bespoke samples for confectionery products
- Sending out of samples when required
- Investigate how existing products work, looking at similar projects already on the market and internal benchmarking
- Taking part in and contributing in brainstorming and developing ideas, making initial sketches or outline plans etc
- Exploring, resourcing and selecting packaging materials relevant and suitable for the varied confectionery market
- Marketing design, working with the product team and individually supporting with the company/customer marketing projects; newsletters (including mailchimp), web banners, flyers, brochure covers, brochure layouts, exhibition stands, display units etc
Skills and Experience (Essential)
- Educated to Level 5 or above – both graduates and undergraduates to be considered
- Any Art or Design orientated degree to be considered for the position
- Strong creative skills, technical knowledge and the ability to work to a design brief (Adobe Creative Suite advantageous)
- Self-motivated and dynamic attitude
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal – liaising with internal teams and external customers
- Have the ability to come up with new ways of doing things, contributing within a team environment
- Highly organised
- Always thorough and pay attention to detail with persistence and determination
- Have great reasoning and problem-solving skills
Skills and Experience (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- A basic insight of Web Design
- Previous New Product Development or ‘NPD’ exposure
- An understanding of technology, materials and manufacturing methods
Qualifications
- Any Art or Design degree considered

- This internship has the view to become a permanent opportunity for the right candidate
- Candidate availability led, with education and other commitments considered, this could be on a part time basis or full-time hours
