G F Smith require a Data Analyst on an initial internship, with a view to turn permanent if successful, to help upgrade their business systems and deliver key metrics and analysis to key stakeholders within the business.
Role Description
- Analysing data using statistical techniques, and providing reports using technologies such as Qlik Sense and Appsmith
- Developing and implementing databases, data collection systems and techniques
- Acquiring data from primary and secondary sources, and creating relationships within the data
- Identifying, analysing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets using Qlik Sense
- Filtering and data cleansing data using extraction, transformation and load (ETL) techniques
- Working with key stakeholders to prioritise business and information needs
- Locating and defining new process improvement opportunities
Skills and Experience (Essential):
- Strong understanding of databases and data structures
- Excellent IT Skills (proficient with Excel and MS office Suite)
- Analytical skills and the ability to recognise trends and patterns
- Strong Maths knowledge
- A general understanding of star schemas
- Great initiative and self-motivation
- Have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to multi-task
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Skills and Experience (Desirable):
- Previous exposure to any Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or similar
- Knowledge/experience of any of the following would be desirable, but full training will be provided; SQL or any structured query language, Qlik Sense, Appsmith, Machine Learning, Data Visualisation, Statistical Programming, Presentation Skills
- An understanding of business intelligence, what it is and why businesses adopt it
- Some commercial experience and knowledge of general business systems and processes would be advantageous
Qualifications:
- A current finalist or graduate within a STEM subject preferred; Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics etc
- Any degree subject to be considered, alongside a demonstrated interest/knowledge of data
